The lady lions soccer team fought and lost 1-2 against the Houston Baptist University huskies.

The teams faced off on Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. Near the end of the second half, Chloe Gallo, a freshman forward, scored her first goal of the season. The point could not stop the defeat that put the overall soccer record at 5-4-2.

Lexie Gundersen, a redshirt sophomore midfielder, shared her thoughts on the game.

“We played great,” said Gundersen. “We had a tough game Friday, so coming off of that, it’s really hard to play with such high intensity like we did. I think we were aggressive and kept the flame under our butt the whole time.”

Gallo discussed what improvements she hopes the team can make.

“Keeping our mental focus up and don’t let it get into our head too much and keeping strong and going forward,” said Gallo.
