Members of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority promote their bake sale with posters. 100 percent of the funds raised supported the sorority’s philanthropy.

Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority sold brownies, cupcakes, cookies and king cakes to support premature babies and their mothers as part of its philanthropy.

The “Pastries for Preemies” bake sale was set up on Feb. 27-28 in the War Memorial Student Union.

According to Chapter President Abby Knight, a junior kinesiology major, 100 percent of the proceeds went to the philanthropy.

Knight discussed the sorority’s reason for hosting the fundraiser for the past three years.

“It’s a lot to go through if you have a premature baby,” said Knight. “It’s a lot to take care of. They’re constantly in the hospital, so we like to raise money to support them.”
