After a 35-14 win over Jacksonville State University, the Lions have started their football season with a 1-0 record.
The game took place on Aug. 29 in Strawberry Stadium, where the Lions maintained a lead for the entirety of the game.
Frank Scelfo, head coach of football, talked about how the team played against the Gamecocks.
“We played all four quarters of football tonight and came out and played hard,” stated Scelfo. “We have players this year who care about each other and care about the team more than themselves. Chason had great protection the whole game from the offensive line and was not pressured a whole lot. Our defense did a spectacular job of pressuring their quarterback.”
Scelfo shared what the team needs to improve on for the next game against Bethune-Cookman University.
“We need to limit the dumb plays in critical situations,” stated Scelfo. “Other than that, I think we did a great job. We had a few penalties that were avoidable and were silly. The Thursday game helped us out, as we are going to have a long break for the next game, and we will be prepared.”
Southeastern takes on Bethune-Cookman University on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. in Daytona, Florida.
