Fans of the rhythm and blues group Boyz II Men will rejoice on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m. as the band will make their long-awaited appearance on the Columbia Theatre stage.
The show was scheduled for Friday, Sept. 24, but was rescheduled for Sunday due to “unforeseen circumstances,” according to a Sept. 20 Public Info press release. The group, which was scheduled to play in Hammond last May, was already forced to reschedule before because of a European tour schedule conflict.
People who purchased tickets for the show in May received refunds or were given tickets for the new date. Tickets for the show are still on sale, but according to Columbia Theatre Director Kenneth Boulton, the premium seats are sold out.
The group will play songs from its newly-released album “Motown: A Journey through Hitsville USA,” an album which celebrates many rhythm and blues legends such as the Temptations, Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson.
Boyz II Men is best known for their emotional ballads and a cappella harmonies. The Billboard Hot 100 group was formed in Philadelphia in 1988 and has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide, celebrated by the Recording Industry Association of America as “the most commercially successful R&B group of all time.” The group has won many national and international awards as well, including four Grammy awards.
“We are indeed thrilled to host such singularly successful and talented performers,” said Boulton.
The show is Friday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. All interested parties should contact the Columbia Theatre box office as soon as possible at 985-543-4371.
Tickets range from $48-64. A special VIP package is available for $98, offering premium tickets and a reception with the trio afterwards.
Southeastern students may purchase half-price tickets with valid university ID.
