On Wednesday, Aug. 22, Campus Activities Board (CAB) gave students two chances to see Marvel’s “The Avengers” on the Big Screen. The matinee was held at 2 p.m. in the Student Union Theater, and the movie was shown again at 8 p.m. in front of the Pennington Student Activity Center field.
CAB provided free drinks and popcorn for those who attended the movie.
“The movie was a fun mid-week activity,” said Claire Salinas, a junior majoring in communications. “It was fun to be outside since the weather is nice. It was nice of CAB to give out popcorn as a little snack, and it was thoughtful of them to offer bug spray. I enjoyed hanging out with my friends.”
The field was full of students at the night showing of “The Avengers.”
“The turnout seems good,” said Todd McElroy, coordinator of CAB. “Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. I think we had about 500 students total today from both showings.”
Students were excited to have the opportunity to see the blockbuster before the DVD had been released.
“It’s exciting because it’s my first big screen movie experience,” said CAB student worker Binay Thapa, a junior majoring in computer science.
CAB hopes to have more movie nights in the future, although none are currently planned for the fall semester.
“The next CAB event will be Friday Night Live at the Oak in two weeks,” said McElroy.
