Students stepping into the office of David Faucheux, marketing and public relations instructor, will notice walls adorned with motivational posters, printout sheets marked with encouraging messages and cards from students showing appreciation for everything Faucheux has taught them. One particularly striking item one may find in his office is a binder labeled “The Book of Possibilities.” The Book of Possibilities is a project that all of Faucheux’s students must complete which is inspired by the movie “Last Holiday” starring Queen Latifah, in which the protagonist owns a “Book of Possibilities” “The first page is your bio and vision statement,” said Faucheux. “[It lists] your qualities, what separates you from everyone else, where you expect to be 20 years from now, your vision for your future. It takes a lot of soul searching.” Other features of The Book of Possibilities include the student’s “bucket list,” a personal story that motivates the student and things the student wants out of life. The purpose of this project is to have a binder filled with one’s motivations and passions to bring to job interviews after graduating. This show of initiative and creativity brings a unique impression to potential employers. “As you can tell, my class is no ordinary class,” said Faucheux. “My class is an experience filled with energy, passion and enthusiasm. My class is an opportunity to not only learn the essentials of marketing and public relations but also the essentials to navigate your journey in life.” Faucheux strongly encourages students to pursue their dreams and to develop an enthusiasm for life.
