The Lady Lions won their match against Lamar University on Saturday, Sept. 28. The team also won against McNeese State two days prior.
Jeremy White, head coach of volleyball, commented on how their victory over McNeese affected their attitude for the match against Lamar University.
“We felt pretty confident,” said White. “We thought that there was a lot of things that Lamar was going to do that were pretty similar to what McNeese is trying to do. So, the way our defense is set up and the way we were playing against McNeese, it kind of fell right into place for us here as well.”
White also shared what he was especially proud of during the match against Lamar.
“I’m happy with how we gridded through that last set,” explained White. “I think it’s actually gonna prepare us better for Tuesday, even if we hadn’t swept.”
Jodi Edo, senior middle blocker, shared her thoughts on how the match went.
“It was a good team win,” said Edo. “Towards the end of the match, I felt like we should have beaten them in the first three sets, but we let up towards the third set. But because we executed in the fourth, we were able to come out on top and win.”
Edo also commented on the previous match against McNeese State University, and why the win was important to the team.
“Coming into the game, we’ve had a big rivalry with McNeese,” explained Edo. “We’ve lost to them in the last couple of years. Our head coach came from there, and we just wanted to go out and get a first conference win just for him and for our team. We were able to sweep them in three sets.”
The Lady Lions will travel to Thibodaux, LA on Tuesday, Oct. 1 to compete against Nicholls State University.
