Southeastern Louisiana University’s Office of Career Services is hosting a job fair to help students as well as alumni locate part-time jobs.
The Part-Time Job Fair is an annual event and is scheduled for Thursday, April 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Student Union Mall.
The Part-Time Job Fair will not only host employers looking for summer employees but will also offer temporary jobs and internships.
“When we choose the employers that will be in the fair, we choose those that have been in the job fair before or have posted job openings with us,” said Keri Truitt, assistant director of Student Employment. “Also, when jobs are registering for the job fair, we also require that the job has more than one opening available.
According to Truitt, even though the Part-Time Job Fair will have other types of jobs available, the primary focus will be on students attempting to acquire summer jobs.
Over 40 employers with part-time and internship openings will have recruiting tables set up in the Student Union Mall. Representatives from each of the companies will be accepting job applications on-site and also giving instructions on submitting job applications online.
“Although students are not required to, it would be very helpful if students were to bring copies of their resumes with them for the employers to see,” said Truitt.
The Summer Jobs and Internships Fair is a great opportunity for Southeastern students interested in part-time employment or internships to interact with employers.
Previous part-time job fairs have been a tremendous success for students as well as employers.
In the past, the career fair has brought in employers such as Disney Worldwide Services, Inc. from Walt Disney World Resort as well as employers from Wal-Mart and other companies in and around Louisiana.
Unlike the Career Fair that is held in the fall, the Part-Time Job Fair is a casual event so students can stop by between their classes or any other break and explore the booths that are set up.
Students are not required to register for the job fair.
