Looking to come off of their first regular season loss against Tulsa, the Lions laced up to face the Spring Hill Badgers in their second exhibition game.
Senior guard Brandon Fortenberry continued his hot streak from behind the arch, finding the bottom of the net on four of his five attempts in the first half.
“That’s something I had to improve on,” said Fortenberry, on his long distance shooting. “Teams were really playing my drive a lot last year, so I worked on my mid range jumpshot and my three point skills. They were really giving it to me tonight, so I just took it.”
The Lions closed the first half with a commanding lead over the Badgers, 39-18. Fortenberry, along with junior forward “Ro” Johnson led the charge with 16 and 10 points, respectively. Johnson also contributed three rebounds, while senior forward DeShawn Patterson managed two assists.
The second half was a more even contest, as the Badgers scored 26 points to the Lions 32 points. However, the Lions were too much for the Badgers and came out on top, 71-44.
Johnson finished the game with a double-double, posting 22 points and 10 rebounds while blocking five shots. Fortenberry put together a 21-point performance, going 7 for 8 from the field and 3 for 5 from the free throw line.
