Coaches coming to venue near you

Since the return of the football team in 2003, Southeastern wanted to encourage a continuation of affairs with the university’s alumni; to do this, they began the Coaches’ Caravan that same year.  During the Coaches’ Caravan, an event where various coaches of Southeastern Athletics travel to six different locations during the summer, they spend time with Southeastern alumni and other excited Lions’ fans. While on tour, they discuss the goals for the forthcoming season with attendees.

“We wanted to encourage alumni to stay involved; if we let them meet the coaches, they could get to know them and learn about what to expect for the upcoming season,” said President of the Alumni Association Kathy Pittman.

Head football coach Ron Roberts will be attending all six events and accompanying him will be baseball coach Matt Riser, as well as other sports teams’ figure heads.

The 2015 Caravan will last two weeks, and each stop will be hosted by a chapter of the Alumni Association. Beginning on Tuesday, July 14 in Denham Springs, the caravan will make their first appearance at the Greystone Country Club. The caravan will then continue on to the Mellow Mushroom in Metairie on July 15 and the Old Rail Brewing Company in Mandeville on July 16.

The second week’s first location will be at the Florida Parishes Arena in Amite on July 21. On July 22, they will then go to Drusilla’s Seafood in Baton Rouge, and their final destination will be in Ponchatoula on July 23 at Roux and Brew Seafood Steakhouse.
