The Ghost Light series continues, but this time with a twist. One of the bands, Will Vance and the Kinfolk, will be performing an album release show, giving the audience a taste of what’s to come in their newest album. The performance will take place at the Columbia Theatre on Saturday, May 10 at 8 p.m. Will Vance and the Kinfolk are a blues/rock band from Louisiana. “We are really excited about our CD release show this Saturday night,” said Vance, vocals and rhythm guitar. “With the help from the local business, Red,White & Brew and Gnarly Barley Brewery, it is going to be a great night. We are a working Rock and Roll band with that ‘Southern hospitality’ mentality. We love to cut up and have fun at our shows, and we encourage the audience to join in the fun. While Will Vance and the Kinfolk will be the headline band, the Family Reserve, a rock/blues band from Lafayette, will serve as the opening performance. The band is made up of Vance, lead guitarist John-Mark Gray, bassist Michael Gray and drummer Garland Hoover. Their sound is centered on folk, soul and Southern rock with a hint of Alternative Country. After the winning the first KSLU’s Battle of the Bands, the band became more known and were able to continue making more music, such as the album they will be releasing Saturday night. “Will Vance contacted me about having his CD release show here at the Ghost Light, and we were able to get a date worked out,” said David Avelar II, operations and production technical assistant of the Ghost Light series. “I’m excited that they’re going to be releasing their CD in our venue. It should be a great night, and I’m glad we get to be a part of it.” Just like shows prior featured at the Ghost Light, the concert will be open to people of all ages. Tickets are sold at the door for $7. “This is our last concert at the Ghost Light till after summer. So don’t miss it,” said Avelar. “It will be a lot of fun with some great music.” For more information, visit Ghost Light’s page at the Columbia Theatre website, columbiatheatre.org.
