The Visual Arts Society (VAS) is now hosting a bi-weekly figure drawing workshop on Tuesday and Thursday of every week until the end of the semester.
The meetings will be held in the drawing room located in Clark Hall.
Unlike most figure drawing classes, which focus on either the male or the female body, the VAS alternates between two models on Tuesday and Thursday.
“It’s just for people to come and be able to draw,” said Leicester Mitchell, a senior photography major and the VAS president. “There’s no teacher. The model is just there, and you can just come in and draw. It’s only $3 per person and open to anyone who wants to draw from a life model.”
Trent Palm, visual arts senior, and Kait McKey, painting junior, are the male and female models for the remainder of the semester.
“I like this workshop because in class the professor is looking over your shoulder and you get all tense and worried,” said Kayla Decauteau, art education major. “But here we are much more relaxed and are able to improve our figure drawing skills much easier.”
The students who attended on Thursday were all art majors of different concentrations, but the VAS welcomes any student from any major and skill level to the workshop.
