    Disney, keep bringing the classics

    Morgan Ledet's Headshot

Disney has come out with some of the best movies of all time. From classics like “Beauty and the Beast” to “Frozen,” Disney has created a popular collection of movies, but some may wonder if Disney is running out of ideas.

I believe Disney has come up with so many good ideas that it is taking them longer to top their previous productions. I have watched Disney movies since I was born. Those movies were a part of my life growing up. I have never been disappointed.

Recently, Disney has released movies that don’t revolve around princes looking for princesses or the prince rescuing the princess. I think these movies are helpful to this generation. Disney is becoming more modernized and their problem may be that they have a hard time keeping up with the changing of times. They want to satisfy us, but new ideas are taking longer to produce than in the past when everything done was breaking new ground.

One example of a classic being turned into a modern production is a personal favorite, “Maleficent.” “Maleficent,” starring Angelina Jolie, was “Sleeping Beauty” told from Maleficent’s point of view. It wasn’t a cartoon, and it brought it to life. “Sleeping Beauty” was a great movie, but “Maleficent” took it on a different path and held my attention throughout the entire movie.

Other classics have been brought back as well. “Cinderella” was released earlier this year and two new movies are in the works. “The Jungle Book” will be released soon and “Mary Poppins” is working on casting the lead. “The Jungle Book” is being brought to life and will not be a cartoon. I think Disney changing it up keeps the interest of newer generations and reminds the past generations of how good the movies were when they first came out.

It is a great idea to bring back old classics. I have yet to see an old classic brought back that wasn’t amazing. The ones I have seen have been spectacular and definitely worth the watch. I am always willing to wait for Disney to create a new, amazing film like “Up,” “Frozen” and “Inside Out.” These three are just some of the great examples of what Disney has created with taking their time.

I would personally like to thank Disney and Pixar for creating movies that not only have us wishing our prince will come one day, but also that the bond of sisters is something that can never be broken. Disney has taught us so many things and continues to do that every day. These are more than movies; they are our childhood, our wildest dreams and movies that will always be there for us when times are hard. I will never pass up the opportunity to see a Disney production in theaters because they have been a part of my life, and Disney has made history with its films.

Disney, whatever you are doing to create these movies, please continue to put a smile on my face and millions of other kids around the world. “Just keep swimming,” Disney.
