Mother Nature, you got some serious explaining to do

Dear Mother Nature, “Baby, it’s cold outside.” I know what you are thinking. Yes, I am quoting a Christmas song. Yes, I know it is the month of March, but you know who doesn’t know it is the month of March? Mother Nature. Girl, what are you doing? March is supposed to be getting warmer not colder. Did we anger you? We did not mean to do that. We want that warmer weather though. I cannot be walking around in March flaunting sweaters. That isn’t me, girl. We need to get your head on straight. Let us refresh your memory. December is winter. January is winter. February is winter. March is the beginning of spring. Spring means flowers blooming and butterflies. However, I do not speak for those up in the New York area who are going through snowstorms right now. We don’t work that way. Sorry, New York.

Just last week, I was walking around with a jacket on. Students were walking around in boots and sweaters. What is this madness? I am a southern girl. The cold and I just do not get along. Although we did not have very much of a winter here in South Louisiana, I do not want the cold now. It is too late for you, Mother Nature. Make up your mind. Although spring did not technically start until yesterday, in the south we had spring weather through almost all of February into March. Then, all of sudden, you were like, “just kidding, here is your cold weather.” Well, guess what? We do not want it anymore.

I was wearing shorts like  two weeks ago. My issue with this is the fact that the weather changed so quickly. Mother Nature, you are killing my allergies. I do not want a runny nose. I do not want to be sneezing 24/7. I do not want to be sick. Sickness is not fun when you are trying to study and do homework. How is one supposed to focus on studying if all they can think about is blowing their nose and making sure they don’t sneeze all over their notes? I know, what a hard life. It gets rough, but Mother Nature, help a girl out. Woman to woman, let us just settle this right here, right now. I do not like the cold in March. I want my happy spring weather back that was here just two weeks ago that reminds me that I am oh so close to summer vacation. Let me remind you. Summer is a time for hotter weather, but not too hot. Just hot enough. Uh oh, that may have not been the right thing to say. I hope I did not anger you again. I may have just wished more cold weather upon us. I guess there is no winning a game against Mother Nature. You are a powerful woman, Mother Nature, but we still want our warm weather. We don’t have to go through extremes. It can be like upper 50’s and all I need is a light jacket. That is something I can work with. You are a beautiful thing Mother Nature, but I still think you are slightly confused. One more time, I am going to refresh your memory. March is for spring weather. Sincerely,  A girl who is sneezing and is tired of being cold.

P.S. Thank you for the warmer weather this week, it is very beautiful and warm. Good looking out for us southerners. That means no more cold weather. It is about time my boots go into the back of my closet till next winter. Maybe that will actually come in November. *rolls eyes.*
