On Monday, November 4, 2013, a student reported being sexually assaulted by an acquaintance in Tangipahoa Hall at the beginning of October, 2013. The acquaintance has been identified and is cooperating in the investigation and no charges have been filed as of the time of this notice. No weapons were reported to have been used in the incident and the investigation is continuing. The incident is not considered to represent an ongoing threat to the community.
If you or someone you know is sexually assaulted, we encourage you to contact the University Police Department at 985-549-2222 as soon as possible after the incident. If the victim does not wish to report to the police, he/she may wish to contact the University Counseling Center at 985-549-3894 or the Tri-Parish Rape Crisis Hotline at 1-877-748-6882 for other assistance. Additionally, medical assistance should be sought immediately after the incident for the health and safety of the victim.
