The Homecoming Kick-Off on Monday, Oct. 2 was filled with many new activities for students to get into the homecoming spirit.

Student Government Association President Seth Leto explained why this year’s kick-off is better and what can be expected of this coming week.

“We have planned a lot more and beefed up some activities, and I feel it is very significant for students to all take part in homecoming to help build that lion pride, and make for a fun tradition throughout the years,” Leto said.

Students found this year’s kick-off to be more enjoyable and more interactive. Junior business administration major Kaleb Harmon, and friends made the event their own with adding incentive to the beanbag toss.

“I really have enjoyed it this year more than any of the other years. The bean bag toss has been my favorite even though I lost a couple times and had to do some push ups, but it’s all good I’m just enjoying the atmosphere and having fun,” Harmon said.

Other activities students enjoyed included the food.

Junior kinesiology major Amber Galloway said, “The popcorn has been my favorite booth because it’s my favorite snack, but also the games are fun.”

The kick-off included many new things for students to partake in compared to the past Homecoming Kick-Off’s.

Leto said, “We have a lot more activities going on, usually we are just giving away free t-shirts, but we also have koozies to give away with a station where you can use fabric markers and draw on the koozies to customize them. We have different snacks, tea and lemonade donated from Raising Cane’s and Chick-fil-A. We also have a snowball machine, cotton candy machine, popcorn machine and all that from CAB. We also have a photo booth, so just a lot more activities for people to kind of come and hangout more for a bigger celebration than it usually is.”
