Elections for the 2011-2012 Homecoming court are underway, though there have been a few changes in their process.
This year, students will be unable to log on to any computer and vote. Instead, computers will be set up in the Student Union Mall and the Student Government Association Office.
“We wanted to ensure accuracy and we wanted to keep the system uncompromised,” said SGA Chief Justice William Takewell. “In the past we had problems with people collecting W numbers and passwords and voted for their friends. We want to keep everything fair.”
The elections will take place Monday through Wednesday, starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. The members of the Court will be announced immediately after the close of the elections on Wednesday. According to Takewell, the announcement will be made in the Student Union Theatre, but this location may change. The 2011-2012 Homecoming King and Queen will be announced at halftime of the Homecoming game against Sam Houston State on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
