For the past few years around the time of final exams, students have been offered the chance to take a break from studying and enjoy a free meal in the Cayman café with Late Night breakfast.
The meal was offered to any resident on Southeastern’s campus free of charge if they have a meal plan. Students without a meal plan had to pay $6.95 plus tax. The breakfast was served by university faculty and staff and was a way to thank the students for eating on campus as well as wishing them luck on their finals.
“This is awesome,” said freshman photography major Jessica Firmin. “I was hungry and I saw that the cafeteria was open, they should do this more often.”
Some students like Russell Palazzolo a sophomore business major, took the opportunity to get away from their books and take a break from studying for final exams.
“This is the only time I get a break from studying so I am trying to enjoy it with my friends while I have some breakfast,” said Palazzolo. “I’ve been studying a lot because anything below 80 percent is failing.”
Most students enjoying late night breakfast were taking breaks from their studies, but senior Biology major Kyle Berry came to get a break from practicing capoeira, a Brazilian marshal art.
“I came over after I finished my practice,” said Berry. “This is a great event and it should be done more often.”
