To encourage students to become more involved with the Southeastern Student government Association (SGA), the SGA is planning the first “SGA Week” to take place from October 11-15.
“SGA Week is a series of activities, events and acts of community service,” said SGA Senate Chair Marjorie Parker, who is coordinator of SGA Week. “It’s really to get students familiar with the people and procedures of the SGA.”
According to Parker, SGA Week is meant to foster understanding and trust of the SGA within students.
“Student’s think of the SGA as just an entity here on campus,” said Parker. “We want to show them the people involved. Also, I hope that students will become more involved and see that the SGA isn’t political, it’s fun.”
SGA Week will feature several events including “Grooving with the Government,” which will take place in the Student Union Ballroom and offer free food, and “Surviving the Quickie,” a forum discussing getting in and out of college quickly. There will also be surveys about the SGA and a suggestion box in the Cayman Café.
“We hope to have more information available for students in flyers posted around campus,” said Parker. “We are going to try to put a link up on the Web mail site.”
