In efforts to ease the stress of finals and demonstrate student appreciation Campus Dining is sponsoring a Late Night PJ Breakfast.
The event will be held from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 4 in Cayman Cafeteria. The breakfast is free for students with a meal plan and $6.95 plus tax for those without a meal plan. Students are encouraged to wear pajamas.
“The event really is enjoyable, gives the students an opportunity to speak to faculty and staff outside of the classroom and provide the students a much needed break as they prepare for final exams,” said Robin Parker, director of Marketing and Strategic Initiatives. “The students, faculty and staff look forward to this event each semester.”
The breakfast will feature scrambled eggs, pancakes, grits, sausage, hash browns, cereal, fruit, juice, coffee and a guest magician, sponsored by Campus Activities Board (CAB).
While the breakfast has become a consistent finals week event, this will be the first year a pajama theme has been advertised.
“This year’s theme, ‘Wear Your PJs,’ was selected by the Campus Dining Advisory Board which is comprised of Southeastern students,” said Parker. “The Board wanted to add something to this semester’s event that would encourage attendance, and since a lot of students study in their PJs, they selected to try out the theme.”
Students find the additional comfort component added by the semester’s theme to be appealing.
“I plan to attend. I like the theme because you can be comfortable while you’re eating,” said Austin Stroud, a freshman with an undecided major. “I think they should do stuff like this more often.”
This finals week event is well-received by the commonly worn-out students.
“I’m planning to take a quick study break and get some pancakes at the late night breakfast,” said Claire Salinas, a junior communication major. “It’s a fun tradition during finals week, and I look forward to hanging out with all my friends and getting some good food.”
According to Parker, the turnout is typically “outstanding” with an average of 600 to 700 students served each semester.
“This event is held during finals weeks each semester to give the students a break from their studies as a way of thanking them for their Campus Dining patronage,” said Parker. “It’s also a way to wish them well on their exams.”
