Donna Gay Anderson's last day as director at Southeastern Louisiana University's Columbia Theater for the Performing Arts will be Aug. 5.

Anderson has retired, and Dr. Ken Boulton has been named interim director. Boulton is also director of SLU's Community Music School.

"This was my decision," Anderson said Monday. "I'm just tired. I've been doing this almost 11 years now and it's been so great. But the schedule is very strenuous and it's time for a change. My reasons are purely personal. I'm grateful to SLU that I've had this amazing opportunity for so many years."

Anderson, wife of local attorney and former mayor Tom Anderson, also said she is not accepting any other position at this time.

"For a little while, I just want to take some time for myself and then pursue some personal goals I've always had," she said. "I might even go back to school. I'm not sure yet."
