On Sunday, April 1 the Southeastern Development Foundation will be hosting their 28th annual Chefs Evening fundraiser at the Pennington Student Activity Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The mission of the Southeastern Foundation is to receive, invest, manage and account for contributions for the benefit of the university.
Over $75,000 was raised for the university through last year’s fundraiser.
The fundraiser features silent and live auctions, wine tastings, samples of fine cuisine, music and a dance floor. To anyone 21 years or older, tickets are available for $75 for Chefs Evening and $125 for the additional President’s Toast.
“We’re planning 2012 Chefs Evening to be a step above past events,” said Michelle Gallo, coordinator of Chefs Evening. “Many new restaurants will sample popular cuisines and trendy beverages while the Big Brass Fun Band plays.”
The addition of wine tasting and a dance floor was added to the event last year and will be continued in this year’s event. As of this year there will be a change in the length of the event.
“With all the excitement that surrounded last year’s changes we have decided to expand the hours of the event,” said Gallo.
This year the event will begin with the President’s Toast at 3:30 p.m. and the Chefs Evening will follow from 5 to 8 p.m.
Those who purchase the $125 Presidents Toast ticket will receive ‘VIP’ passes to attend Chefs Evening 30 minutes earlier than other attendants along with a signature Southeastern wine glass for the wine tasting. Only 250 tickets are available for this exclusive pre-event party.
The auction consists of a large variety of items. Last year’s auction included airline tickets, a homemade wreath, a Southeastern Lion mailbox, float boat rides, live artist paintings, pieces of jewelry and a crawfish boiling pot with crawfish.
All proceeds from the event will be donated directly to the university.
“Not only does this event raise unrestricted funds for the university, but it brings our community back to the campus for an evening of fun and entertainment,” said Gallo.
Join the hundreds of alumni friends expected to take part in this much anticipated Southern Louisiana Dining experience. Bon Appetite!
