The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) will host a free seminar covering Facebook for business in conjunction with the Hammond Chamber of Commerce.
The seminar titled “Effective Techniques for Using Facebook in Business” will be held Friday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Helpful skills for the management of Facebook use among small businesses will be addressed including page design, deals, contests, best practices and more.
The event will take place at the Southeast Louisiana Business Center in Hammond located on 1514 Martens Drive. The first seminar was held in St. Tammany parish; due to the limited amount of space, the seminar was rescheduled to accommodate those who were unable to benefit from the first session.
“We’re probably going to schedule another one in Slidell for the overflow of this one,” explained Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Small Business Development Center.
The seminar will feature Brian Walker as the guest speaker. Walker is the owner of Five Stones Media, a regional representative for Constant Contact and travels throughout the state to educate businesses on the use of effective and affordable marketing technologies to reach and conserve their customer base.
“We’ve held basic seminars in the past, but we’ve never done one like this before,” added Summers. “This one is more strategy, not how to set up a page but now that you have it how to make it work for your business.”
The LSBDC hosts several other instructional seminars on ways to expand and/or maintain small businesses, all of which can be registered for online.
Prior to the Facebook seminar, the LSBDC will host a webcast seminar from New York that will cover taxing advice for professionals. Following the Facebook seminar, the LSBDC will welcome the State of Housing Market on Nov. 2 and veterans and their families who are interested in starting a business on Nov. 8 for “From Boots to Business.” “From Boots to Business” will inform participants of finances available for veterans interested in starting their own business.
“If anyone is starting or expanding a business I encourage them to come talk to us because that’s what we do,” added Summers. “We have consultants that can meet and talk to them, and it’s free to come in and meet with and talk to a counselor.”
