As a part of Southeastern’s annual October Fest “The Revenge of CarnEvil” returns to campus. University Housing has teamed up with Aramark to host carnival-type fun for campus residents, commuters and the Southeastern community.
“The Revenge of CarnEvil” will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 4-7p.m. on the Cayman Café lawn. The cost of participation will be $6.95 not including tax, however; Southeastern students will be allowed to use their meal plans.
The food menu will include hamburgers, hotdogs, macaroni and cheese and brisket. After paying for the event attendees will receive a wristband, which allows them to eat as much as they want.
“In addition to the food, music and games there will be a roasting pig,” said Laura Woods, Resident Assistant of Departmental Programming. “Mr. Joe [Aramark chef] loves to do his roast pig. We will also have 100 free t-shirts for the first 100 people who come.”
Because the event is not limited to students it allows University Housing in conjunction with Aramark to build campus community and gives students the opportunity to get out and have fun. Announcements have been posted to their Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts encouraging the Southeastern students and residents of the community to participate.
“It is for everyone who wants to show up,” added Woods. “Since it is around midterms, kids can use a break.”
Students are also gearing up for the party.
“I’m going because I’ve never been before, and it sounds like fun,” explained Markia Tasker, freshman kinesiology major.
Although many students will take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy an evening of games, music, food and fun, others are more focused on midterms and class assignments.
“I probably won’t go because I am up to here in my schoolwork,” said Megan Dawkins, sophomore biology major.
University housing hosts several events and activities throughout the semester. Additional information can be found on their university website at www.selu.edu/admin/housing.
