Southeastern will be holding a parade as one of the many forms of celebration that will be held at the end of Southeastern’s homecoming week on Saturday, Oct. 23, which is the actual day of Homecoming and also the last day for celebration. Southeastern will have its Homecoming parade, and it will roll through campus at 3 p.m.
Southeastern’s previous Homecoming celebrations were christened with themes such as Roomie’s Got Game,” “80 Years of Rocking with Roomie,” “Scrub the Demons” and “Southeastern Sitcoms.” This year’s Homecoming theme is “Roomie to the Rescue.”
Many people will take part in the Homecoming parade. In the spirit of this year’s theme, there will be some fire fighters and Roomie the Lion.
“The students and Homecoming queen as well as her court will be in the parade,” said Jackie Dale Thomas, director of Leadership Development and Student Activities. “We will have the Spirit of New York fire trucks that were sent to New York to help out with 9/11.”
The Homecoming parade will come through campus around 3 p.m. to give the Southeastern Lions fans the chance to cheer on Mike Lucas, the head coach for the football team, as well as the current and former players when they begin their walk. The walk is called the Lions’ Walk, and it will travel through Friendship Circle to Strawberry Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
“It will go around the entire school,” said Thomas.
