The Lionettes and cheerleading squads traveled to Orlando, Fla. to compete in the 2015 UCA/UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship, and for the third straight year the Lionettes brought home a bronze medal.
The competition took place Saturday, Jan. 17 and Sunday, Jan. 18 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
“It’s a great experience,” said Paige Lapeyrouse Hall, coach and coordinator of the Southeastern cheer and dance squads. “It’s really nice to get Southeastern out there because they do so much on campus. They’re there cheering on athletic teams every week, so it’s good for them to compete and show they’re accomplished at what they do.”
The cheerleading squad competed in the Division I-Small Coed category, making it to the finals for the fourth consecutive year. However, the team was unable to bring home a medal this year.
In the past, the Lionettes have brought home medals in the Division I-Jazz category. This year the team placed fourth in the finals in jazz, but their dance mash-up in Division I-Hip-Hop earned a bronze medal.
