Coaches’ Caravan to make three stops

As the end of summer approaches, some of Southeastern’s coaches are taking their message across parish lines as a part of the Coaches’ Caravan.
For head golf coach Tim Baldwin, track and field head coach Sean Brady, and head women’s basketball coach Lori Davis Jones, it marks just another public appearance. But for new head football coach Ron Roberts, it’s a chance to meet and greet with alumni from around the area, many for the first time.
“The purpose of the event is to inform the alumni and community about Southeastern athletics and get them excited and engaged about the upcoming season,” said Kathy Pittman, director of the Alumni Association.
The caravan’s first stop was Monday, July 16 at La Carreta Mexican Restaurant in Amite, and was sponsored by the North Tangi Chapter of the Alumni Association. The second stop finds the caravan in Baton Rouge for the Red Stick Chapter’s event at the La Carreta Mexican Restaurant on 4065 Government Street tonight at 6 p.m. Tickets are five dollars, with all paying members of the Alumni Association being admitted for free. The third and final stop of the caravan will take place on Thursday, July 26 at the Lake House, 2025 Lakeshore Dr. in Mandeville. It will start at 6 p.m. and costs five dollars. It was sponsored by St. Tammany Chapter of the Alumni Association.
“Everyone is invited but it’s especially targeted to the alumni and friends in various geographic areas,” said Pittman.
The money will go to the Alumni Association to offset the costs of the event, according to Pittman.
Roberts didn’t know much about the event, but was happy with the directions he was given.
“They told me to go out, and talk about the program,” said Roberts. “But that’s what I do everyday.”
