As last week’s bad weather put many plans on hold, it also had its impact on two of the Lions Athletic Programs.
Last Tuesday, March 29, the Lady Lions softball club was set to face then No. 25 ranked LSU Lady Tigers at North Oak Park at 6 p.m. Due to weather restraints, the game has been postponed to a later date. This game has been reschedule to take place at 6 p.m., on May 3 at North Oak Park. This will be the last match between the Lady Lions and Lady Tigers this season, as they look for a signature win for the program.
Weather was also a factor on the baseball diamond for the Lions baseball team on Tuesday of last week, as the squad traveled to Baton Rouge to face Southern University. As the Lions got underway against the Jaguars, the skies were gray, but the first pitch was thrown on time.
As the Lions entered the eighth inning down 2-1 with runners on base, the game was brought to a stop due to lightning hazards. The game was delayed for an hour and in a rare change of event, the Jaguars refused to return to the field and the Lions took the forfeit win 9-0.
