The Lady Lions basketball team is holding tryouts to fill their roster before the start of the season. Assistant Coach Kenneth Lee Jr. is in charge of the walk-on tryouts.
“I am looking for players who are in physical shape to be a division one women’s basketball player,” said Lee Jr. “I am looking for players with a competitive spirit all the time. Looking for players with high basketball IQ. They also have to be high character kids with excellence in the classroom.”
Under new Head Coach Errol Gauff, the Lady Lions have already recruited five players to the team for this season. According to Lee Jr., one player who walked on has already joined the team and two spots remain.
The Lady Lions finished 4-25 last season and will be looking to blend players from last season with the new players. The walk-ons will be doing mostly conditioning before they start practicing on the basketball court.
Tryouts began at 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12 at the University Center.
“Tryouts with a basketball will start later in the week,” said Lee Jr. “The first couple days of tryouts will be conditioning.”
