As college students, we spend half of our time actually studying and being productive while spending the other half procrastinating and putting off what schoolwork really needs to be done.
With technology and social media, distractions are constantly surrounding us. One big distraction nowadays is Netflix. I have recently discovered this marvelous creation; however, I have made sure to catch up on all my missed time.
Last Christmas, I began watching the series One Tree Hill starring Chad Michael Murray. Over the duration of the break, which is only about three weeks, I had completely finished all nine seasons. I did not realize how wrapped up I was in the series until I no longer had Brooke Davis’ drama or Nathan and Haley’s romance to pep me up when I was down.
But no worries, I soon found a new series to love just as much. Grey’s Anatomy has everything a viewer is looking for. The series is based on interns working their way up in the hospital. From the very beginning, when one of the main characters performed open heart surgery, I knew I was going to be hooked. Unfortunately, I know my time with Grey’s Anatomy will soon be ending. Therefore, I have already begun research on my next Netflix series I will devote my precious time to.
At the beginning of the month, Netflix began releasing new seasons of shows including Sleepy Hollow starring Tom Hillson and Melissa & Joey with Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence. While Sleepy Hollow is a show for those looking for suspense and thrill, Melissa & Joey is an upbeat comedy where local politician, Mel, must hire Joe to help tend to her niece and nephew, Lennox and Ryder. As most ABC Family series go, it is corny and filled with cheesy lines, but it makes us laugh and that’s all that matters.
While these two shows are highly recommended, I am eagerly counting down the days to September 29, the day Season 10 of Bones will be released. Bones is based on forensic science and features an anthropologist, Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan, and a know-it-all FBI agent, Agent Seely Booth.
Bones was one of those shows I happened to stop on while channel surfing, but the next day I immediately turned back.
I found myself returning to the show each day because every episode features a new case to be solved, therefore new suspense and most of all, more rotten flesh, broken bones and dead bodies. I love Bones because it never gets boring. As a biology major, I watch closely to every discovery and every clue left behind to try to guess what the scenario may have been. Even though I am never actually right, it is always fun to pretend I am a scientist for a whole forty minutes.
Some people have their own favorites on Netflix while others have not fully found their niche. However, with the upcoming releases, they soon will.
