The Friends of Sims Library hosts the ninth annual “Wine with Friends” event to raise funds in support of the Sims Memorial Library.
Guests can partake in many activities at the event scheduled for Friday, Nov. 3 on the second floor of the library.
“Guests who attend ‘Wine with Friends’ will experience an evening of socializing over delicious food and wine pairings, live music and a silent auction,” said Head of Serials Janie Branham.
Branham described some items the silent auction will feature this year.
“This year’s silent auction is our best yet, featuring some unusual items such as a Turtle Cove boat tour, a 12-month Mystery Experience subscription and a VIP pass to the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival,” said Branham. “Other auction items will include books, art, wine baskets and various gift certificates.”
The funds raised during the event will be used to support the library.
According to Branham, attendees can socialize while supporting the library and participate in its activities and collections.
“Funds generated by FoSL supplement the library’s annual budget and are used to purchase needed equipment and resources, and provide programs, lectures, author readings and signings, and other special events,” said Branham.
The event has gained popularity throughout the years because of efforts by the FoSL Executive Board and because of this people have to acquire tickets beforehand to be a part of the event.
“Space is limited, so advance reservations are required and tickets cannot be purchased at the door,” said Branham. “Tickets are $35 each. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the wine tasting beginning at 7 p.m.”
Tickets are available for ordering online at southeastern.edu/libraryfriends or via check payable to Southeastern Foundation, SLU 10896, Hammond, LA 70402.
