The Alumni Association is celebrating 85 years of existence and seeks to honor the oldest living alumni for recognition at their Alumni Awards Evening.
“The Alumni Association was founded in 1927,” said Kathy Pittman, director of Alumni Relations. “As part of the celebration we will celebrate the oldest alumnus. That person may or may not be the oldest class year.”
In the event that the oldest alumnus does not have the oldest class year, two awards will be presented: one for the oldest living alum and one for the oldest class year. Anyone can submit names and contact information of individuals. Required information for entry includes name, age and year of graduation if available.
The awards ceremony will be held on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at Twelve Oaks. In addition to the oldest living alumnus, the Alumni of the Year and Young Alumni of the Year will also be recognized during the ceremony.
“I’ve had a lot of calls,” added Pittman. “We’ve been advertising in our newsletters and other news publications. I’ve even had someone tell me about it popping up in California. Public information has done a lot of publicity for us.”
