The “Part-Time Job Fair” returns to campus to offer students access to potential job offers and networking opportunities.
Located in the Student Union Breezeway, the fair will be held on April 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Assistant Director for the Office of Career Services Brittany Bacques explained the purpose of this event.
“This event is intended to connect area businesses with multiple part-time and,or internship openings with our students who are seeking employment while in school,” said Bacques.
Career services estimates that between 30 to 40 businesses will attend the event looking for recruits. Bacques discussed why the event is beneficial for students to attend.
“Southeastern encourages its students to obtain real-world experience while working towards their degree,” said Bacques. “Having a part-time job or internship is one of the best ways to gain those valuable experiences. So, those who attend may walk away with a new employment opportunity. Students who attend the event will not only have the option to apply for jobs, but they will also gain a better understanding of how to communicate with professionals and learn about different employment opportunities that they may not have known before attending.”
Students can stop by the event in between classes to view the different job opportunities, and some businesses will bring job applications to the “Part-Time Job Fair” so students can begin the hiring process that day. Bacques shared what would be beneficial for students to bring to the fair.
“Students are not required to bring anything but are encouraged to bring a copy of their resume,” said Bacques. “Employers anticipate that students will stop by between their classes, so business professional attire is not expected. This is a casual, outdoor event, so students can come as they are but should be reminded that they will want to make a good first impression to employers.”
