    Rende’s celebrates grand re-opening

Almost a month after the renovations have been complete, Rende’s hosted their grand re-opening celebration and customer appreciation day, October 22.

Customers were treated to free jambalaya, chips, cookies and soft drinks, as well as free T-shirts.

Corporate sponsors such as Monster, Budweiser Beverage Company, The Louisiana Lottery, as well as a host of others were on hand throughout the day offering free samples and giving away corporate merchandise.

There was also a prize drawing in which lucky customers received an assortment of corporate sponsored items.

“It was the perfect time, during Homecoming, to show our appreciation for the customers, and a great way to give back,” said store owner Ty Rende.

Rende’s, which recently underwent renovations, despite the minor inconvenience, did so with the customers in mind. “We have been open with the new renovations for a month and this is just another way we can try to serve the customers better. Everything we do is for them.”

Even the employees have enjoyed the recent renovations.

“It’s 100 percent better,” said Marie Harrell, Rende’s employee. “I am here every morning, and I keep everything organized. It’s easier now and definitely a lot nicer.”

Rende’s, which has been open since 2002, has become a popular convenient store for citizens of Hammond and students alike.

“Rende’s is the central corner store of Hammond,” said computer science major, Chris Guillory.  “It’s the 24-hour drop spot. I have come in here at three o’clock in the morning, because I know they will have what I need and it’s the only place open on Sunday. It’s the first place I knew about besides the school, in Hammond.”

And with customer appreciation day, once again, Rende’s has reached out to the community.

“Its great that they have this,” said sophomore English major Rodney Washington. “I shop here regularly. I feel that the shop is supporting me. It feels good to feel appreciated.”
