House Representative Steve Scalise (R-La.), whose district includes Southeastern Louisiana University, issued the following statement after wearing Southeastern’s baseball uniform during the 2011 Congressional baseball game.
“I was proud to wear Southeastern’s baseball uniform for the 50th playing of the Congressional Baseball Game for Charity,” said Scalise. “The Lions have a long tradition of excellence on and off the field, and I was happy to take the green and gold spirit to D.C. This is a great event to help raise money for charity, and I was proud to use the opportunity to shine the light on a hometown favorite team.”
The Congressional baseball game is played annually at the Washington Nationals Stadium. Proceeds from this year’s game were donated to the Washington Literacy Council and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington.
