    Seniors prepare for graduation

Graduating seniors are invited to attend the 2011 Grad Fair scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Alumni Center located on North Campus. The event is mainly for summer and fall graduates , however; spring graduates are also welcome.

“Grad Fair has been an impressive event on our campus since 1990,” said Jackie Dale Thomas, director of Leadership Development and Student Activities.

The Grad Fair is host to many organizations and services a graduate will need.  Students will be able to order their cap and gowns, invitations, class rings and have  their picture taken for the yearbook. Candid pictures in cap and gown can also be taken for family and friends. Other booths include La Capital Credit Union, which aims to help students move into life outside of school, and Enrollment Services to assist with providing important and pertinent graduation information. Southeastern Development Foundation and the Alumni Association will be in attendance as well.

Refreshments will be provided at the fair and door prizes are to be awarded to lucky students. Le Souvenir, the Southeastern yearbook, will also be available to graduates at no cost.

“The best part of seniors attending Grad Fair is that it is ‘one stop shopping’ for seniors,” said Thomas. “They can get the bulk of their graduation needs taken care of there.”

Gamma Beta Phi and the Office of Leadership Development and Student Activities are the main sponsors of the event. They also work closely with the Southeastern Alumni Association to present a helpful fair for graduates.

Career Services will also be present to assist seniors in readying their resumes to meet real world employers. Students wishing to participate in the resume clinic will need to bring a hard copy of their resume with them to the fair.

According to Thomas, every year the Grad Fair helps hundreds of students with their graduation needs.

While spring graduates are invited to attend this Grad Fair, there will be another Grad Fair in the spring to accommodate those students.

For more information about the Grad Fair and who will be in attendance, please contact the Office of Leadership Development and Student Activities at 985-549-2233, by email at [email protected] or visit them in room 110 in the Student Union.
