    CAB hosts musical game show

The Campus Activity Board (CAB) kicked off Black History Month in its own way on Tuesday, Feb. 1. A game show took place in the Student Union Theater in which anyone interested could participate. Admission was free and participation was encouraged.

The game show was similar to Jeopardy, but had a twist. The name of the game was “Tune In” and it used different styles of music throughout the game. Contestants would answer various questions about each song in a category. It was a game that gave everyone a chance to participate.

The host for the evening, Mark Chef, asked a series of questions on various topics such as movies, music, events and facts related to Black History Month.

Three contestants were chosen and asked to introduce themselves. Afterwards, the game began and contestants were asked to name the song or artist of the song playing. The player who answered the last question in the previous category correctly chose the next category. “Magic Kingdom,” “American Idol,” “Who’s Your Daddy?” and “She’s a Lady” were some of the categories on the board throughout the game. Disney songs were played in the “Magic Kingdom” category and Michael Jackson was the choice for the “American Idol” category. Famous television dads were matched to their theme songs in “Who’s Your Daddy?” and famous female artists were included in “She’s a Lady.”

Black History Month had its own category and popped up multiple times throughout the night. Several times the trivia proved to be somewhat difficult for the participants. When none of the three contestants knew the answer to the question, people in the audience were then allowed to participate in the game. This got the crowd riled up and eager to show their knowledge on all of the categories.

“This game tonight was so exciting,” said Emi Antonova, a senior sociology major. “I love being involved in all of these activities. I came here wanting to participate.”

Prizes were awarded to the contestants who answered the last question of a category correctly. Cash, multiple DVDs, dorm room sheets and a Snuggie were among the many prizes. Although contestants returned to the stage multiple times to fight for the win, in the end, Lorrianne Lucas won the final prize and walked away with a brand-new MP3 player.
