The Southeastern chapter of the Ducks Unlimited student organization is hosting a Sportsman’s Night Out, hoping to raise money for the wetlands and waterfront conservation.
President of Ducks Unlimited Eric Warren says the event will be held in the Student Union Ballroom on Wednesday Sept. 11 at 6 p.m.
“This is open to students who want to join the Ducks Unlimited organization and for anybody who wants to come raise money for the waterfront conservation,” said Warren. “It’s kind of like a recruiting event to really get the word out and just really learn how to throw an event.”
Ducks Unlimited is fairly new to campus, beginning approximately two months ago.
Warren explained that the organization is spread across North America, and its main goal is preserving, restoring and managing the wetlands and habitats for the continents waterfowl.
“There is a conservation side and a fund raising side,” said Warren. “The conservational side basically puts the dollars raised by the fund raising side into the wetlands. Ducks Unlimited conserved over 13 million acres across North America to date and the chapters are basically volunteers across the country.”
“A lot of passionate people across the country take their time and energy and help raise money to put the dollars into the wetlands across North America.”
Sportsman’s Night Out is open to all students looking to get involved with conserving the marshlands.
