    SGA hears concerns

SGA listens to the concerns of those on campus and makes new resolutions for the improvement of Southeastern.
For over 20 years, some of the furniture in Sims Memorial Library has not been replaced. The Serials Department found on the second floor of the Library is in need of renovations. Currently, students do not have a place to work together and discuss projects or homework they may be working on. A proposal has been made to have the entire lab renovated in phases. If the phases were to take place, Phase I of the renovations would involve adding a lounge in the Serials Department for students to be able to work together in a more social atmosphere as well as providing a place for them to read magazines or charge electronic devices.
SGA also announced a resolution that would keep the library open on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., enabling students to have a quiet place to study on Saturdays. The library is currently closed on Saturdays except the Saturday during finals week, when it is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The main campus currently has three convenience stores open for students; however, convenient stores are not found on North Campus. Some residents living on North Campus do not have a mode of transportation and the Lion Traxx does not run all day, every day, making it difficult for the residents living in Southeastern Oaks and The Village to be able to make it to a convenience store located on South Campus. A resolution has been made to see if it would be possible to move one of the convenience stores to Southeastern Oaks.
Student organizations are proposed the placement of a cork bulletin board in the new Student Union to provide a way for students to become more aware and active with what is happening on campus. A resolution has been declared, seeking possibilities within the budget to add a bulletin board.
Along with a bulletin board in the new Student Union, SGA  made a resolution to purchase a television for the SGA office providing information for students through presentations and photos while visiting for free coffee, scantrons and other supplies. This would also promote events being hosted by student and Greek organizations.
Due to the rain, students have been raising concerns about wet floors in the new Student Union. A resolution has been made to get in touch with the physical plant to see if it would be possible to provide umbrella bags to help reduce the amount of water tracked inside.
These are only some of the resolutions that were proposed at the SGA meeting that took place on Monday, April 7 at 5 p.m.
