One popular activity in Hammond for many Southeastern students is laser tag. Campus Activity Board recognized this interest, and as a result are hosting a laser tag event for students on Oct. 16 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Lee Field.
“Honestly we just thought it would be a fun event,” said Director of CAB Todd McElroy. “On a lot of levels, it’s fun, some team building, team competition all thrown into one.”
Laser tag will not only be free for students, but offer a unique way to play the game, as it can be played outside in daylight.
“I deal with several different vendors, and they got a new top of the line system. It actually works outside during the daylight,” said McElroy. “I mean, it’s that good of a system. Laser tag seemed to be a popular thing, so we decided to go with that.”
A large portion of the event will be open to any student who wants to take part in the fun. Towards the end, a tournament will be held comprising of teams. The time the tournament starts will be determined by how many teams sign up.
According to McElroy, tables will be set up in the War Memorial Student Union and possibly Cayman Cafe for teams to sign up as the event draws near.
Winners will receive a prize pack donated by the local Safari Quest.
“So the winners will actually get to go play laser tag again,” said McElroy.
The outdoor laser tag course is coming in from Kramer Entertainment. In case of rain, the course will be moved into the Pennington Student Activity Center.
“It seems like a fun course,” said McElroy. “The students will have a good time. Hopefully everybody comes out and enjoys themselves and takes advantage of it.”
