The fall semester is bringing a new wave of freshmen and other incoming students. These students are introduced to the university through its orientation programs.
There are a series of orientation programs each summer designed to acclimate students to the college transition. Students are assigned to groups that are usually broken down by colors and led by two Orientation Leaders. The program offers activities that foster friendships and inform students about policies, procedures and advising and allow the students the opportunity to register for classes. There are also fun spirit competitions in which the students can participate.
While the students enjoy themselves, there is a program designed for family members as well to explain and answer questions about college life and help everyone get accustomed to the changes.
There are six scheduled orientation programs. The first begins tomorrow, June 13, and runs through June 14. The rest are as follows, with dates subject to change: Orientation Program II, June 20-21; Orientation Program III, June 27-28; Orientation Program IV, July 11-12; Orientation Program V, July 18-19; the final Orientation Program will take place from Aug. 6-7.
The earlier that a student applied and were admitted to the university, the earlier they will be invited to orientation. Students may be allowed to reschedule to a later orientation date, but no one is eligible to move to an earlier program.
