Lucky Bucks coupons finds new manager

If you are one of the many students at Southeastern who gets their textbooks from Textbook Rental each fall and spring semester, then Lucky Bucks should sound familiar. What may not be familiar is the story behind the coupon book.
After running under the same management for nearly two decades, Lucky Bucks has recently gained a new owner. Her name is Holly Montalbano-Young, a businesswoman who happened upon the opportunity to run the coupon book by chance.
“I have owned Lucky Bucks Coupon Book for about a year,” said Montalbano-Young. “I have been a nail technician for many, many years and also was in wine and liquor sales in New Orleans. I bought the business from the previous owner who owned it for about 20 years. He was ready to retire and told my sister who happened to know him from being a previous advertiser of his. I am very lucky to have stumbled upon this wonderful and challenging opportunity.”
On January 1 and July 1, 65,000 Lucky Bucks Coupon Books are printed; Montalbano-Young hand-delivers 35,000 of those coupon books to the general public. Another 15,000 are passed out at Southeastern’s Textbook Rental and 10,000 are mailed to homeowners throughout Tangipahoa Parish, from Kentwood all the way to Ponchatoula.
Whether you own a small business or would simply like to save money, Lucky Bucks Coupon Book has something to offer all residents of the parish.
“Businesses [small and local] who advertise in Lucky Bucks, benefit from the use of coupons being returned,” said Montalbano-Young. “The general public, Southeastern students, families looking to save money, high school students, working people, doctors, lawyers, salon workers, bank workers, basically anyone who lives in Tangipahoa Parish benefits from Lucky Bucks.”
Lucky Bucks also attracts local residents to small businesses with the prospect of saving money. In some cases, the book has helped local businesses to grow.
“Several businesses have gained popularity through Lucky Bucks,” said Montalbano-Young. “Once a person has the book in their hand, they go through it and choose what they are eating or doing for that day or night. So really everyone gets noticed.”
Businesses who would like to appear in Lucky Bucks have a variety sizes to choose from, ranging in size from a quarter of a page to a two-page spread. If you would like to advertise in the coupon book or learn more information on pricing, call Holly Montalbano-Young at 985-869-0383, or email at [email protected].
