On Thursday, Feb. 24, The Delta Alpha Pi International Honors Society initiated a new members and Jeff Day, owner of Spoga Fitness, which is located in downtown Hammond at 210 W. Thomas Street. Day shared a few words with the group.
This is Delta Alpha Pi’s second semester as an established group on campus so membership is still small, but growing. According to Cecelia Palumbo, administrative assistant of the Office of Disability Services, Delta Alpha Pi is about promoting awareness for students with disabilities on Southeastern’s campus.
Jeff Day, who himself has a prosthetic leg, came up to give a few encouraging words to the group.
“I was contacted by Kay Maurin,” said Day. “She informed me that they were starting a disabilities group and wanted to know if I wanted to come and meet some of the guys and maybe give a presentation. It’s great to see this kind of group.”
