There are a couple of moves and renovations going on around campus. Roomie’s has been relocated, Nursing and Health Sciences students are getting an expanded Kinesiology building and a Quiznos has been added to the campus dining lineup. Lion’s Athletics will also see improvements for baseball.
Southeastern University landmark, Roomie’s Café, has been relocated into the campus’ Chick-fil-A restaurant, which has also received an update. The Chick-fil-A received new tiles and paint for a more modernized look.
The reason for Roomie’s relocation out of the Twelve Oaks Complex near Friendship Circle was so that a Quiznos could be opened up in that location. The Quiznos had its grand opening on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011.
Nursing and Health Sciences students can also expect to have an expanded, state of the art Kinesiology building to utilize in the fall semester of 2011. The new building will allow the College of Nursing to move out of Mims hall where it is currently housed.
Four new tennis courts and a locker room will be added for use by the tennis teams. Construction projects around campus have caused the women’s tennis team to host home games in nearby Covington and Mandeville locations this semester. Once construction is complete, the courts and locker rooms will be located behind the pool, next to the kinesiology building.
Also in sports, Lion’s baseball enthusiasts and sponsors went out for a groundbreaking ceremony at Alumni Field on Wednesday, Feb. 9. The ceremony was held to commemorate the start of construction on a new hitting facility for the Lion’s baseball team. It is expected to be completed in one to two months.
