Womanless Beauty Pageant: Are You Woman Enough?

The Recreational Sports and Wellness Department (REC) will host the first annual Womanless Beauty Pageant to raise awareness about Heart Disease for Women.  The pageant will take place at 7 p.m. on Feb. 15 in the Pennington Student Activity Center. There is a one-dollar entry fee for all wishing to attend.

All proceeds from the Womanless Beauty Pageant, including the entry fee, registration fee and any other money given, will be donated to the American Heart Association.

The idea for the Womanless Beauty Pageant is the brainchild of the creative leadership team within the REC, which consists of over 100 student staff members.

“With February being American Heart Association month, they decided that a womanless beauty pageant would be a great way to gain attention for the American Heart Association and create a fun venue,” stated Amy Oberschmidt, assistant director of Guest Services.

Faculty, staff and students are all encouraged to register and participate in this fun, yet worthy cause.  The participants in the pageant must be male and the outfit requirements include a wig, red, white or pink dress, heels and they must wear shorts under their garment of choice.  The registration fee is $15 for contestants.

“Anyone can enter as long as they are a guy and are comfortable in their manhood and can dress up one night as a woman,” said Oberschmidt.  “If they wear makeup or jewelry it will increase their points, also the way they walk, smile and present themselves.”

The titles of first, second and third will be chosen by a panel of judges made up of familiar faces around Southeastern’s campus.  There will also be a people’s choice award that will be voted by the audience through applause.

To register to be a participant in the Womanless Beauty Pageant, visit the REC blog at rswcenter.com or at the control desk located in the Pennington Center.  The last day for registration will be the day before the pageant on Feb. 14.  They have already received numerous applications from students and faculty members who are not ashamed to participate.

“His first name is Caleb, his girl name is Chelsey and the woman he admires most is his mother and his fun fact is that he enjoys long walks and strolls on the beach,” said Oberschmidt.  “This is a good example of what we are getting from the men signing up and all this information is on the registration form they will be filling out.”

Immediately following the pageant a reception will be held, featuring Sound Sensations until 10:00 p.m.  Entry into the reception will require a bracelet that all will receive when they pay their one dollar entry fee to get into the pageant.
