Students attend Grad Fair to prep for graduation

Grad Fair for the spring 2011 graduates was held at the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association on Thursday, March 11, and Friday, March 12.  The upcoming graduates met on either of the two days at the Alumni Association in order to take care of all the business that comes along with being a graduate this semester.

Grad Fair is the time for all graduates to take yearbook photos, pick up their cap and gown, and also attend a resume clinic for some pointers on building resume. Both on and off campus organizations were represented at the event. All the organizations had one goal in mind: be sure that graduation goes as smoothly as possible for these spring grads.

The graduates were offered a chance to take a photo that will be seen in the yearbook and that could be ordered to share with friends and family. Yearbook photos taken at this Grad Fair will be seen in the next edition of Le Souvenir, which will come out this upcoming fall.  The graduates will be able to receive their free copy by simply calling the Office of Student Publications at 985-549-3731 to see when the yearbooks will be handed out next semester. Graduates can also contact that number if they were unable to attend the event and want to pose for a yearbook picture.

Those graduates who ordered their cap and gowns prior to Feb. 11, were able to pick up their graduation gear.  Those who had not yet ordered the items were offered a chance to do so.  The bookstore was present at the Grad Fair and handled all the cap and gown business. Those who could not attend the graduation event are asked to visit the bookstore to either place their order or pick up their already ordered products. Grads who wish to contact the bookstore with any cap and gown questions can call 985-549-5393.

The resume clinic offered was a chance for the future graduates to have a professional look over their current resume and tell them if it needs to be improved and if so to improve it.  This experience was offered at a great time, considering within the next six months many of these grads will be stepping out into “the real world” of business and will need to be as professional as possible.
