The Student Government Association is hosting its annual Back to School Bonfire at 6 p.m. tonight at Cook Field.
The bonfire dates back many years, even once being known as the Homecoming Bonfire, where it was a combined event with the Block Party and Lip Sync Competition. This year, the bonfire will feature an all-new dessert competition with a $300 shopping spree prize.
SGA President Maria Nachaeva said, “Students and organizations should expect a friendly competition, including carnival-themed desserts. There will be three judges, but event-goers can also try each dessert.”
Alongside the dessert competition, the bonfire will also feature food and music.
“As a student myself, I strongly encourage every student to come by the bonfire,” Nacheava said. “It allows students to mingle with their classmates, catch up with peers and celebrate the beginning of a new semester.”
