Registration for spring intramural sports began Tuesday, Jan. 24. Men’s and Women’s basketball, ultimate frisbee, dodgeball and softball all headline line the spring 2012 season. The leagues offer a fun and safe environment for students and faculty to play competitive sports.

“Intramurals is an excellent way for new or older students to get involved,” said Chad Pendarvis, coordinator of recreational services and overseer of intramural sports.

Students can pick a league to join when they register at the Pennington Student Activity Center control desk. Participants have the option of registering in person or online at www.imleagues.com/SELU/Registration. There is a registration option to log in through Facebook.

“It’s a great way to network, socialize and stay fit,” said Pendarvis.

If the student has their school email attached, it will automatically create an account with imleague.com. Once they create an account, a confirmation email will be sent and the participant can activate their imleague.com account.

For students interested in registering, it costs $10 per person, and even if a student does not have a team, they could still take part in the games.

“It is $10 per person and if they don’t have a team they just need to show up to the captain’s meeting with their money,” said Pendarvis.

The basketball captain’s meeting was Jan. 30 in room 108 of the Pennington Student Activity Center at 7 p.m.  but Registration for basketball ends on Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. and the season begins Feb. 6. Softball, dodgeball and ultimate frisbee registration ends on Feb. 10 at 3 p.m. with their seasons beginning on Feb. 13.

“Each team plays two games a week and we run different leagues Monday through Thursday,” said Pendarvis.

The softball captain’s meeting is on Feb. 7 in room 108 at 8 p.m. and the officials’ meeting is on Feb. 8 at the same location and time. The officials meeting for dodgeball is Feb. 8 in room 108 at 7 p.m.
