    Shelby Devlin

Volleyball right sider and middle blocker Shelby Devlin is a senior communication major graduating in Spring 2016. So far in this season, she has had season highs of four points and three aces in a game against North Carolina State University during the 2015 Gamecock Invitational.

The Lion’s Roar: What will you miss the most about being a Lady Lion?

Shelby Devlin: I will miss volleyball in general and playing the game, especially with all these girls. Me and four other seniors have been together since my freshman year, so leaving them behind will definitely be sad. I’ve been playing the game in general for 12 years, so I’ll miss it in general.

TLR: What are your plans for after graduation?

SD: After I graduate, I plan on moving back to Colorado where my family lives and hopefully I’ll be moving to Denver and starting a job in public relations. That’s my goal, but we shall see.

TLR: What do you enjoy doing outside of volleyball?

SD: I enjoy living in Colorado on my off time because I love being outdoors. In Colorado, there’s lots to do. I like golfing, hanging out with my family, friends and crafting.

TLR: What are you looking forward to this academic semester?

SD: I’m looking forward to getting through my next few classes. I’m ready to be done and graduate.

TLR: What are you looking forward to this season?

SD: We have a really promising season so I’m really excited to see how we do, and we have a good chance to make it to the conference and the championship. We’ve been working hard so I’m hoping it will pay off.

TLR: What does being a Lady Lion mean to you?

SD: Being a Lady Lion means representing my school, being one with my team and being a role model.

TLR: Do you have any hopes or dreams you want to accomplish this year, in the near future or before you graduate?

SD: My main goal is graduating. I also want to go out without regrets, make the most of everything and move to Denver.

TLR: Who inspires you to strive forward as an athlete? Why?

SD: My parents inspire me to strive forward because they have been supporting me since I was 12 to push forward and keep going.

TLR: What will you miss most about Southeastern?

SD: I will definitely miss my teammates, being with my best friends every day who aren’t on the team and being here in general.

TLR: What’s it like for you to get the chance to play where you used to live and go to school in your final season?

SD: It’s going to be awesome and kind of weird because I used to live there and this is my last season. I haven’t been back in two years and I feel like it’s all going to be surreal. Ever since I found out we would be playing in Vegas, I’ve been looking forward to it, and I’m really excited.

TLR: If you could tell your freshman self some advice, what would you say? Why?

SD: I would tell myself to not get so wrapped up in things, cherish the moment and don’t take anything for granted.
