Miss Southeastern prepares for next level

In preparation for the Miss Louisiana Pageant, the Campus Activities Board (CAB) is sponsoring a wardrobe viewing for Miss Southeastern 2010 Lacey Sanchez.

Sanchez plans to showcase her pageant work for Thursday, June 17, at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Union Theater. Admission is free and open to the public.

Sanchez will model all of the outfits she plans to wear for the Miss Louisiana pageant and will perform her talent during the show. Her prepared musical number is the Barbara Streisand performance of “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from the musical “Funny Girl.”

“I think what sets me apart is that I’m a newcomer to this,” said Sanchez. “I’m extremely involved in a variety of activities and that makes me versatile and easy to relate to all kinds of people.”

A biology junior from Baton Rouge, Sanchez is a member of the track and field team and also belongs to Phi Mu Fraternity.

“She has a unique background, being a student athlete as well as a pageant contestant,” said Jason Leader, coordinator of CAB. “She’s well-spoken and talented. She’s well-rounded.”

Since being crowned Miss Southeastern last September, Sanchez has been steadily preparing for the state pageant, scheduled for June 24-26 in Monroe, La. The trunk show is a way for students, faculty and staff to see Sanchez’s segment even if they are unable to attend the Miss Louisiana pageant.

“We’d like to invite anyone interested in seeing the show,” said Leader. “We wish Lacey well on her trip to the pageant.”

CAB can be contacted by phone at 985-549-3805 for more information about the trunk show.
